Tammy Whitworth Australian, b. 1976

Overview

Brisbane-based painter Tammy Whitworth communicates anxieties and pressures that surround her daily experience as a mother. By creating paintings that are intentionally small and controlled, the artist transforms sensory overwhelm, noise, commotion, and mess into something both beautiful and strange. Delicate fine detail created with the use of single hair sable brushes may be viewed with the aid of a magnifying glass in these surrealist miniatures.

Tammy has exhibited widely across Australia and has taught at the Ipswich Art Society in Queensland, aiding in both training and exhibiting the practices of developing artists. Her work has been featured in The Weekend Australian Review, DB Magazine, and Artdate, widely popularized for its intricacy and illusionary subject matter.
