Mark Munro Australian, b. 1968
Mark Munro is a Melbourne based commercial photographer, race car driver and crocodile wrestler. Over the last 25 years, he has worked for clients as diverse as Qantas, ANZ Bank, Bayer Group, Asko, Caltex, Origin Energy & Sacred Heart Mission. He works mainly on location, however he finds studio work a nice change occasionally, especially if its raining outside.
1968 Born 27th March in Melbourne, Australia
1985 Finishes HSC at Caulfield Grammar School, Melbourne
1986 Commences work at The Age newspaper as a copyboy.
1989 Commences work in Hospitality industry, working as Assistant Concierge at the Melbourne Hilton on the Park. Also begins part-time study at Photography Studies College (PSC), South Melbourne, concentrating on Photojournalism.
1990 Begins exhibiting in group student exhibitions at PSC.
1992 Commences work as photojournalist with Tony Feder @ Sporting Pix Photo Library, shooting sport & corporate work for clients such as Australian Football League, National Basketball League, Australian Airlines & Mobil Oil.
1993 Establishes Mark Munro Photography, and begins freelancing for various Corporate, community & editorial clients.
1997 Joint exhibition at Art Conservation Framers Gallery, South Melbourne.
2001 Commissioned by Victorian Art Centre Trust to photograph Art Centre luminaries as part of a Federation Committee Arts Project. 10 of the photographs are exhibited as large backlit installation pieces around the external perimeter and façade during February.
Also has work accepted into the ACMP collection # 8.
2002 Group exhibition as part of ACMP Collection # 8 at the Melbourne Museum and various regional galleries around Australia.
2003 Group exhibition at Obscurity Gallery, Fitzroy during August-September. Group exhibition at Homeless Gallery, Collingwood as part of the Fringe Festival October 5th – 12th . Has six photographs accepted into ACMP collection # 10.
2004 First solo exhibition, titled "FACTORY" opens at Chapel Gallery, Prahran from 21st April – 9th May. Exhibition extended due to popular demand to 26th May.
Mark currently lives in Melbourne with his partner Anna and 2 young sons, Noah & Luka April 2004
